President-elect Barack Obama named key members of his administration's economic team.
Timothy Geithner, the president of the New York Federal Reserve, will be the next US treasury secretary.

Lawrence Summers, himself a former treasury secretary, will become the new head of the White House's national economic council.

Christina Romer of the National Bureau of Economic Research will chair Mr Obama's Council of Economic Advisers.
Obama also announced Melody Barnes as director of his White House Domestic Policy Council.
Barack Obama said he wanted to create 2.5 million jobs by the end of 2010. He also said he wants the legislation to incorporate his campaign ideas for new jobs in environmentally friendly technologies — the green economy. He added that deficit concerns would have to take a back seat to the goal of reinvigorating the economy.
